Harmonised Interconnection Requirements for DER

DERlab Workshop Series

3rd DERlab workshop on harmonised interconnection requirements for DER
15th September 2009,
at the 10th International Conference Electrical Power Quality and Utilisation EPQU, Lodz (Poland)

Public DERlab workshop in the frame of the jubilee EPQU 2009. Main topic: Interconnection requirements of DER in parallel with public low-voltage distribition networks.

Among all the issues relevant for the connection of distributed generation to the power network, the focus will be laid on the following two issues which are still subject to vivid discussions in various countries:

1. Connection requirements for generators connected to the LV network
2. Contribution to the network operation: reactive power and voltage control

Additional issues such as testing, certification and commissioning will also be addressed.

The workshop is organised in combination with the EPQU 2009. However attendind the workshop independent from the conference is possible. Participation is free of charge but the number of participants is limited.

2nd DERlab workshop on harmonised interconnection requirements for DER
13th May 2009, Salzburg (Austria)

The objective of this workshop was to bundle existing standardisation activities with the objective of harmonising European grid connection requirements. With almost 20 participants covering all the types of organisations concerned by DER interconnection requirements (network operators, manufacturers, research institutions, ministries), this workshop allowed participants to exchange up-to-date information on current standardisation activities and reinforced the discussion process on the most topical issues (e.g. contribution to voltage control and fault ride through).

Presentations of the 2nd DERlab Workshop on Harmonised Interconnection Requirements for DER

1st DERlab workshop on harmonised interconnection requirements for DER
3rd March 2009, Rome (Italy)

The absence of a harmonised interconnection standard has been identified as one of the most severe obstacles towards the wide deployment of DER and as a result to the change towards active electricity networks. Addressing this diversity has been set as one of the most important objectives of the research community. Thus it is also one of the key objectives of DERlab. As a first step for harmonisation DERlab proposed a structure for a European Standard for interconnection of Distributed Energy Resources (EDIS). (Click here for more details. [871 KB] )
DERlab contributes actively to the recently created working group (WG 03) of CENELEC/TC8X, dealing with the formulation of the technical specification "Requirements for the connection of generators above 16 A per phase to the LV/ MV distribution system".

The 2nd DERlab workshop series will support this standardisation work.

The first workshop of this series took place in Rome on March 3, 2009, with participants from the CENELEC TC8X work group 3 and the DERlab network. The discussions gave input to the following CENELC work group meeting.
