DERlab's technical liaison with CENELEC TC 8X

CENELEC Technical Board welcomes DERlab as an official “Technical Liaison Partner” within the CLC/TC 8X committee (System aspects of electrical energy supply) in 2011.

CENELEC is the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation and is responsible for standardisation in the electrotechnical engineering field. CENELEC prepares voluntary standards, which helps to enhance European excellence in the area of electrotechnical standardisation.

The scope of the CLC/TC 8X technical body is to prepare the necessary standards framework and coordinate the development, in cooperation with other TC/SCs, of CENELEC standards needed to facilitate the functioning of electricity supply systems in open markets. DERlab contributed actively to the recent European standard EN 50438 “Requirements for the connection of micro generators in parallel with public low voltage distribution networks”.

Fraunhofer IWES Test Centre Systec inaugurated

Fraunhofer IWES Test Centre for Smart Grids and Electromobility (SysTec) inaugurated

On the 16th of September, 2011 Frauhofer IWES held the opening of its test centre for smart grids and electromobility (SysTec).
In its new centre covering approximately 80,000 m², Fraunhofer IWES is developing and testing new equipment and operation strategies for smart low and medium voltage grids. One of the laboratory halls includes a testing area for low and medium voltage converters, electrical machines or grid equipment. A mobile test container able to be used to measure the fault-ride-through of generation plants has been also integrated into the laboratory. The second lab is equipped with facilities to test grid integration of electric vehicles and power storage.
